Goodbye to a project

Hey!
My name is Maximilian Hamstengel aka MedPlex and I am the administrator of the Mastodon server Douzepoints.social.

I have been running the Mastodon server for more than half a year now and it has given me a lot of experience.
Unfortunately, the server has not developed as I imagined. Currently, the activity of the server is quite low, as well as we receive more spam accounts, which spam our server with any advertising posts.
Now the price of the server has increased, so the total cost of the server is higher than my budget, which I have made available for the project.
I have waited for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool so that I can re-evaluate the situation around the Mastodon server afterwards. Unfortunately, this has not improved and has brought only a small positive added value.

For me, as a private person, it is therefore no longer possible to continue to operate the Mastodon server.

Therefore, the project will be discontinued on June 30, 2023.

For all current users of the Mastodon server, there is the possibility to move their account to another server until then.

If you have found a new Mastodon server, you can start the move under „Settings -> Profile -> Move to another account“.
Please pay attention to the following hints:

• All followers will be transferred from your current account to the new one
• The profile of your current account will have a forwarding message and will be excluded from searches
• No other data will be moved automatically
• The new account must first be configured to reference the old account
• After migrating, there will be a cooldown period where you cannot migrate the account again
• Your current account will not be fully usable afterwards. However, you will have access to data export as well as reactivation.

All accounts that have not been migrated by June 30, 2023, will be irrevocably deleted along with all other data on the server.

It was still a pleasure to meet many of you and to offer you a Eurovision home on Mastodon, so I apologize for being forced to discontinue the server.
